Other information:

Via his his father's friend, George Lowther M.P., was given a Revenue appointment for the City of Cork. Was for a large part of his life a prosperous man, and contemplated retiring from his official post on his substantial property. But the sudden fall in prices after the overthrow of Napoleon brought ruin to his property as well as to many others, and he died in Dublin, an impoverished and disappointed man, on 23 February 1821. He resided for many years at Westgrove, afterwards called High Park, near Douglas, and later, from 1810 to 1815, at Ballindeary, near Cork, between Carigaline and Oyster-haven. His wife survived him, and died in her son's house, Knocklyon, Co. Dublin, on 30 November 1836.
